The Nature of Water

Hudson River – Black Water and Ice

I have been experimenting with the Nature of Water through its various phases: liquid, solid and gas.

The photos were taken at Long Dock Park in Beacon NY and also in Washington DC near the Leica Store.

One senses that Spring is just around the corner and the ice flows are melting. They indeed have melted. Spring is here!

These photos were taken with Leica cameras. I am impressed with wonderful the technology available in Leica cameras, as well as the impressive features offered by software such as Adobe Lightroom and Capture One 2022.

What I am trying to achieve is a balance of aesthetics and technology in the photos in this project.

Here are some of the HDR Photos. They were created by merging 3-to-5 images, each taken at different exposure settings. The final image has increased dynamic range.

Below are two photos taken at different times near the Leica Store in Washington DC.

The first show steam eminating from a broken steam pipe, and the second shows a homeless person sleeping on top of a steam grating. The latter photo was take with a Leica M10 and a 50mm Summilux lens.
