Thoughts on Creating a Facebook Page

I recently created a Facebook Page, my first, and was amazed at the integration of various Facebook properties: Facebook via Friends and Pages, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

I was led through the Page-Creation process, by first naming my Page – Kerschberg Photography – and then creating a profile handle @PhotosbyKerschberg. Next, I was asked if I wanted to create a What’s App ‘button’ so that people could communicate with me. Why not I thought? Voila it was done.

Next, did I want to link to Instagram? I demurred for the time being.

Once the Page was up and running, I got a few ‘Likes’ and was then asked it I wanted to ‘broaden my reach’ by advertising to targeted audiences. This is where the Facebook ecosystem is strong, in that one can specify precisely the audience you want to target. I did not venture into advertising just yet.

WordPress also makes the process of creating a website a snap. I even got the domain registration ‘free’ for the first year. I love my domain: https://Kerschberg.Photography. By means of WordPress I can connect to social media, that is, Facebook, Google and Twitter, so that these services can receive my Posts. How awesome!

A few days later I searched Google for “Kerschberg.Photography” and there was the link to my Page, right at the top of the search results.

As a professor, I have taught E-Commerce since it inception, when programming a Web page required knowledge of HTML-coding. We have come a long way since those days and I marvel at how interconnected we have become.
